hi there, a mini post to celebrate the season! i literally had such an amazing christmas, the best part was spending time with the fam. i had dinner with my entire fam early last week, everyone that means the most to me in the world all in one room, which for those close to me know hadn't happened in such a long time. as nervous as i was for it, as soon as it was happening it all made so much sense, i kind of wanted to melt into the moment and just float around for a while. my mister got to shake my father's hand for the first time, and it meant the world to me. i am hopeful for the year to come. ballet classes with the dames this week, getting pretty stoked!! xxx

hi all! been a baby's whisper since i last posted. i have been doing a little bit of everything and nothing at the same time, got back from ottawa late sunday night, and had a spectacular weekend with equal amounts of social loveliness and relaxing down time with my mister's fam! all needed and totally appreciated. we got to see buried inside's last show which was pretty cool!

my mister and i went to the ago the other night for 'free wednesdays' (you should totally hit it up tonight from 6:30-8:30, totally free and pretty inspiring) and we were totally feeling the julian schnabel exhibit, check it out! you won't be sorry!

not much new to report, just livin' and lovin' ps- it took me 20 minutes to get layla out of bed this morning, she apparently does not like cold, rainy mornings. bless her teeny weiner of a heart!

guess what i'm excited for? the romance that is the season's changing- i know i am going to get some hate mail about how miserable snow is, how cold it gets, how awful the wwwwwwinter is......but guess what? i love it all! i love the warmth in the air on even the coldest of days, i love drinking mulled wine while decorating a teeny weiner of a tree, i love watching family stone, love actually, all i want or christmas, muppets christmas carol, and home alone. maybe this year i'll get to ice skate (ahem mister, take me to the canal) and bake more! i saw a festive starbucks cup yesterday and almost shrieked, that's how awesome this time of year can be if you let it. grab a good winter coat, a warm pair of gloves and embrace it!

weekend at a glance:

friday- dinner and drinks with my ol' pal kyle, which obviously ended in falling asleep on the couch watching a number of friends episodes because nobody other than kyle and jb can tolerate/ share my love. 'jam-good, custard-good, meat- gooooooood'

saturday- went for brunch with miss katie, took a stroll through the park in the rain, shopped a teensy,romantic dinner at black hoof with my mister, baby showered it up at sean & aidan's (omg- i can't wait to meet this little guy)

sunday- 5k run for a cure (walked for a cure), lunch at caplansky's, napped, pig to the park, made my mister a fall dinner (stuffed chicken, sweet potato mashed, home made stuffin and gravy, pumpkin pie and cider for dessert)

now...if this week was only a small fraction as good as my weekend we would be all smiles on this cute, rainy fall day....but it's not, so i'm stuck inside day dreaming about a million and one adorable things i should accomplish very soon.

pie jars

ingredients:
2 pkgs pillsbury pie crusts (4 crusts total)
or if you have time make pie crust from scratch.
6 fresh pears. peeled & cut into little 1/2 inch squares.
1 cup fresh raspberries.
1 tablespoon lemon juice.
1/2 teaspoon almond extract.
3/4 cup sugar.
3 tablespoons flour.
1 tablespoon melted butter or one egg for egg wash.
vanilla sugar.
pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. cut pie crusts into fourths and in lightly greased jam jars fill entire inside with a thin layer of pie crust. preserve 1/2 a pie crust for cut out strips. in large bowl combine pears, lemon juice and almond extract. toss to coat. add sugar & flour then mix well. spoon pear mixture into jars popping in a fresh raspberry here and there. (raspberries are somewhat sour so you only new a few per jar.)

 next slice the set aside pie crust into thin strips. criss-crossing them across the pie jar tops. pinch along the rim of the top and trim any excess. lightly brush melted butter or egg wash on to crusts and sprinkle with vanilla sugar.

place jars on baking sheet and pop into a 400 degree oven for 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown or filling is bubbling. let cool for 15 minutes and enjoy, or place jar lids on completely cooled pies and give as cute & yummy delicious gifts.

it's days like today that make me want to watch a million horror movies, bake a pie, go horseback riding, make soup from scratch, watch football with some home made chili, curl up with a book/bot/bubs/or all three, sip tea in the backyard, take a jaunt through high park. i know this is premature, and i don't want summer to end, but there are some very quaint and endearing qualities that fall presents. life is pretty just doing what it's doing.

hey y'all! just a lil' sneak peek at what i got up to on sunday- my room is coming together nicely and we're working through the dining room this week! i feel very accomplished having just moved in and i feel very zen in this teeny little space. sigh sigh pie in my eye! it felt like there was romance in the air today- walking through a park on that 'omg- fall is coming in a little' morning makes me want to jump into my bubs' arms and grab a earl grey tea, we started going steady in the fall and all the daydreamy and dustiness ever since has changed my life completely.

'sup? this weekend was such a tease, nature, beauty all around, easiness, breeziness, wind ticklin' my knees while i napped outdoors. it felt like a dreamworld, and my mister's parents are so so so sweet! they make me feel all at home and warm. i am starting to think a lot about the country- the life, the little amount of hustle and bustle, the trees, the grass (that is found everywhere, not just in bellowoods) and it seems like a dusty life of perfection.

this week is packed with tons and tons to do! moving on sunday, getting things done all week, it is a crazy little week let me tell you- the hard work will pay off when i'm sipping wine in the backyard with my two lovely new roomies and my pigbot for reals!

morning!

had a killer weekend with killer peeps- algonquin was incredible and we had cozy little sleeps with a teeny laylabun! well done weekend, you made me all sorts of cozy and warm feeling! a perfect camping weekend!! my mister is increds!

i think my mind was racing in my sleep last night- a mile a minute. teeth grinding, stomach feeling like a turtles trampoline and waking up a few times distraught as heck! what am i even thinking about? i have no idea!!! i have no complaints (except for the roof of my mouth being all burned from camping beans and weiners) does this ever happen to anyone?? i've had some crazy sleeps lately.

oh! i move into girl house september 1st, which will be so nice! kind of scary (because i hate moving so much) but i think it will be best for the pig, backyard and parks galore!! and i get to live across the park from spence and campos- double score!! living with 2 adorable mugs and very lovely ladies will be a nice change of pace!

also- check out camp 4 this friday night!! robin turns 30!!! wha???? totally amazing dude- happy birthday draper!

monday monday (mamas and papas reference above?) - i feel so sleepy from this crazy city weekend! (remember how i said it was going to be low key?)

friday:
had lunch and drinks with kyle at caplansky's and drinks at ronnies
me and the mister biked to yonge and dundas to catch the free sloan show (a.w.e.s.o.m.e)
then off to the 'taste of little italy' where it was crazy in a happy festivities kind of way
THEN off to a soccer bender, all the peeps from goalden showers were in attendance....but i was so pooped!!
home to bed with the mister

saturday:
slept in till 1pm (i NEVER do this- felt pretty great!)
biked to the ferry, went to see beach house, broken social scene, band of horses, and pavement (who i didn't get to see, boo!) on the island which was pretty amazing, weather was great, mister by my side, pretty gosh darn sweet!
then....i had to work, till 5am!!! nxne festivities in FULL effect- people everywhere! garrison was booming!

sunday:
went to cherry beach with lay and bubs
had a lovely outdoor lie down/bbq/brews/touch of footie
went for a mega walk with the bot, looked a little like 2.5 hours!

weekend was pretty grand, some people just make the weekend so awesome. i can't deny how warm my heart feels all the time- like the summer heat!

this weekend is going to be all time- camping in algonquin with some lovely peeps and the bot. i am counting down days and picking up things here and there for the adventure! beans and weiners, campfires, SWIMMING, nature and brews, what is even better than that??? the answer is nothing.

i miss biz though- i thought up so many home alone quotes to remind him of and filet o fish eaters! i should really start making some little notes about this stuff for when he returns.

aww thursday- this week is chugging along veeeery slowly, but we're almost there, final stretch! keep your chin up!

in goalden shower news- we got slaughtered last night...we put up one helluva fight, but to our disappointment we lost the long, hard battle. i had some words with a chick on the opposite team, she tripped me and i was all 'no need to get dirty, you're creaming us' apparently this team has 'practices' because when the same chick beefed it one of her team mates was yelling at her 'do it like we did in practice, c'mon' a little too much pressure for a recreational team! but it was fun so who even minds about it!

tonight is the night- all this nxne excitement! come on down to the garrison (a whisper west of ossington on dundas) catch some rad bands (burning love, dd/mm/yyyy, metz, etc). i'm behind the bar jammin' out and i would love to see some adorable faces all up in there! COME!

workin' all day workin' all night. i'm thinking a chill city weekend with my main man and layla-anne. i actually cannot wait.

hey hey hey! happy monday and it is one indeed, i'm still glowing from the cute events of this weekend! i went to visit the boy's fam in greely and it was nothing short of amazing, his parents are two of the loveliest people i have ever met and it was uber relaxing. good vibes and love all weekend long! i got to see the parliament buildings, cat sanctuary, the market, and all the stunning sites which ottawa seems to have in abundance. pretty sweet weekend and my main man is simply the best. point blank.

when we got back to the city i had a mere hour before i started my first shift behind the bar at garrison (dundas and ossington) looks like it's going to be a pretty sweet gig! had some drinks apres shift with sarah and spence -catch ups and strongbows. made my way home to cuddle with some kitties (layla is still at grandma's house eating home made stew) and curled into bed with a smile on my face from all the weekend awesome, not to mention the amazing dude by my side.

but monday has come..the happiest/ saddest part of all this gloomy monday is that my best friend is spending his summer abroad and is leaving on a jet plane tomorrow, i am so happy that he''s decided to do this, it is going to be a sweet, sweet summer for my biz, but i am sad to see him go- i don't think we've ever spent this much time apart in our years of friendship so it will take some getting use to! i am so stoked for him and can't wait for the fam jam dinner tonight to send him off!

anyhoo- that is my weekend report, smooth as a babie's bum! busy week ahead, soccer, band practice, island shows, and tons of fun in the city, make it count y'all!

what a night!! my main man took me to see the national last night, it was more than i had hoped, they sounded amazing, and they put on a pretty great show, 2 encores and tons of awesome, AND the posters for the show looked stunning (yay!! babe!!) sigh sigh sigh, such a good night, even did a little stop before home for a whopper at bk (totally gross/ delicious/ omg i love cheeseburgers) sleepy kid kicked in H.A.R.D!

sweet day yesterday, kind of perfect actually, sometimes even the simplest of days can warm your heart to a million degrees. i like it, i like it a lot.

but....when i went to sleep, i had the worst dreams/ nightmares? ever. all sorts of things that made me wake up in the middle of the night feeling all ill and needing a good cuddle. layla-anne was just the lady for the job, however, i could tell she was getting annoyed by the 3rd of 4th time. why do night terrors even happen? i watched shutter island (omg, so scary, totally did my hand over face but fingers separated thing) and ate butter chicken roti before bed-ish, do you think that has something to do with it? regardless, this morning i was all grogmonster and wishing it was friday. man oh man, it's going to be a long week.

this weekend was pretty amazing, the most amazing weather and the most amazing dude by my side. sigh
campfires, burgers, beers, and more burgers! it was a stellar weekend and it was pretty amazing to wade in a refreshing body of water. maybe we got too much sun, but it was a good start to the summer let me tell you, pretty damn incredible. thx dames for the invite, and your shaggy cover kind of blows my mind!

goalden shower- game 1

Downsview Park. Night.
It had rained hard an hour earlier. A fine mist covered the field. Everything gleamed with wetness. It seemed an appropriate setting for The Goalden Showers. Slowly the team (minus a few key players) gathered at one end, assembled their net and waited for the other team to arrive. For some it was reuniting with old friends, for others it was was the first time they had met. Together they would make a team. The opposition eventually showed and the game began hard and fast. The Showers were tested early on but their keeper threw him self into the roll with enthusiasm keeping the ball free from the back of the net and proving once and for all that four eyes are better than two. The high point came early with a threeway between two Daves and a Lauren....passing the ball in quick succession ending with Lauren placing it neatly in the back of the the red teams net. This unfortunately was the last time the ball would be found there. The red team came back quickly with a goal and then followed that up with another in the second half. The Showers put it all on the line as the minutes ticked away and the end approached. Electricity was in the air...quit literally. Sheets of it filled the brooding sky. The final seconds ticked away and the red team claimed their win. However, The Goalden Showers to were left with a victory...this was the first step of a team and like all first steps it was a little precarious. But the victory comes in knowing that this team would soon learn to run...and the goalie to kick. It was clear that that some day soon a Goalden Shower would ran down on them all.

what a weekend! my pig was super sick at the start of it all and if anyone can remember the 'ear infection of 2006' i get pretty hysterical (hysterical for me at least) when things happen to her. she's all good now, i have her on a strict rice diet for the next week and some meds, sigh, gave me a good scare though.

another weekend with bubs- every second warms my heart and makes me the happiest/ luckiest girl in the whole wide world.

went for a wicked run before work today with the pig. i am finally understanding what all the fuss is about, jogging early morning makes you feel amazing, but maybe the tunes below had something to do with my killer run: (don't judge my tunes, at least i'm jogging)

here is one of the latest rescues- her name is mustang sally. Her and her brother maxwell were found walking side by side on the highway in abacos, destined for doom. Her brother has been adopted, but mustang still needs a home and she'll come to you! this furry babe will warm your heart from now until eternity. ADOPT!

ps- this one is special to my heart because this is exactly what layla/ petit pois looked like when she was wee mitt and she is the best dog ever, i can only imagine mustang sally would be the same for you. ADOPT!

well...sunday night airport. i was hanging out in philly this weekend, but that IS NOT what this post is about. this post is about how much i have enjoyed this particular monday thus far...
it started out lovely, sun was shining (not to mention early!), cats were sneezing (from all that gorg sunshine i think), this morning just felt different...like spring is a comin' different! YES!!!
had to keep the morning momentum going- so i put lifetime on, when it's nice out there is nothing i enjoy more than listening to 'northbound breakdown' -sweet commute to work. THEN burger texted and told me to skip work because everyone was hitting a patio (premature-agreed...or is it?) i am so tempted. so i went to the beer store, strangers smiling everywhere, people just get so over the top happy when the sunshine hits, and i feel so happy and lucky today, livin' and a lovin'

happy friday!! it is a happy one to say the least-c'est le weekend (incroyable)!
tomorrow is going to be spent with sir captain layla-anne pigbot, some serious qt is needed. i miss her so much when i'm away!
sunday- hitting philly for business till late, late monday! (missing superbowl which is a huge bummer, not to mention working 24 hours straight in phl but there is a light at the end of this crazy tunnel) because on wednesday i leave for a week of fun with my bubs, pretty unreal! venice beach, la, hollywood, PIPES!!

so, i'll keep it short, but i wanted to wish everyone a happy week, a sweet valentines day, happy presidents day, happy family day, and most of all........

okay okay..... first post of the new year, i am behind on pretty much everything and i love it. new year's was a complete gas, i had a very sweet one! and this year looks good so far- babies(YAY! EVE!!! aka cutest baby ever), family, friends, le sigh!

have you ever just really adored the way someone's mind works? i feel like every day i understand his a little more and everyday i fall a little harder. pretty lovely really, pretty brilliant actually. i have never had so much fun with someone doing anything, everything and nothing. makes sense right?

so, all in all, i have been absent-yes, but hopefully by the end of the month i will have songs recorded, trips booked, and hilarious pigbot stories to show for it. happy hump day, the end.

i am killing it with energy today- i am young, wild and free. that's what i am always reminding beaner of anyhow.

beaner is coming for the weekend!!! and this is a treat, once a month for the past 4 months i have seen my bean, which is kind of unheard of. Shots of apple pie are in my very near and dear future.

2nd day of the patch, not bad. it’s not ideal but keeping myself turbo busy is fun, i hope I can do this. if i do it’ll be all ‘money bags sharpe’ for the rest of the season.

christmas amongst other things is making me feel warm and fuzzy, dizzy even, trip to nathan philips square in the next couple weeks. also, i have to get on my holiday pie jars, make some mulled wine- and hopefully watch some snowfall. le sigh.

and once the holiday high has worn off…..i am hitting cali. indeed i am, fish tacos, pizza (the band), miss drew denny, in n out burgers, porch sleeping, big whup, echo park (get ready little joy- canadians like whiskey), venice beach here I come!!

Also- anyone know where I can get some cheap oxford (flats)? Ebay is my nightmare.

i held this dude for 2 hours the other day, i don’t really see eye to eye with babies yet, but this guy (Hayden) and I hit it off. apparently he doesn’t like being held, but i held, kissed, cuddled, oogled and awed over him for about 2 hours. my arms felt like jello and i never wanted to let go. i am not the kind to get all baby gay- so i wanted to document the moment… this was the day a baby and i got along for real. i wish you got to hold him too.
