sorry - just got the email that said 'you forgot to add garbage picking to your weekend list' - i found a cute piece of luggage in the garbage, and because someone didn't keep it behind their dj booth at stinking 751 like they were supposed to - i no longer own this fine piece of garbage, i guess i will carry all of my things by hand when i go to philly - thanks dude.
sigh - another weekend has come and gone and i have yet to post! a lot of news in lauren and layla's world this week. a ton actually.
let's start with the lovely things:
- had a dream night last night, full of homemade mulled wine, shortbread cookies, wool sweaters cuddles, and christmas movies. (how do you even try to drag yourself to work on a monday with all that perfect sunday nightness?)
- got to hit my friend conor's movie premier - shirtgun guy and captain coulier, kudos to the casey boys for being so talented.
- found a new home in a cute neighborhood that i like... and i am back to living with boys, pretty fun. anybody like heavy lifting? my record player weighs about three million pounds.
- layla has a cute way of protecting me when high park is an oversized ice rink and i have to literally scale a fence to make my way back to the car (new boots might actually be the answer to our winter of fun i think)
- saw buchnea and accommodating barry dj. super fun!
- saw frank's camera and want it so hard.
- dames' birthday was yesterday, one more year of being the best chick ever under her belt. love love love the dames.
- he is lovely. yes he is indeed.
Not so lovely things, but liveable:
-packing. packing sucks.
-moving. moving sucks harder.
-'let the right ones in' that movie was the worst, i can imagine worse, but i would never have paid to see it.
happy monday y'all!

for you pops.
ha! my dad read my blog for the first time yesterday, and said it was cool. cute. but he did mention he did not like me using the phrase "wtf?" which is a good point, i will clean it up pops, i don't even like the swears. it is so undignified. also, if you catch any "wth", please note that this it is intended to mean 'what the heck'. HA!

happy birthday you ol' goat!

these guys below are available to adopt, not sure if any of you knew how i got my layla anne but she is from the bahamas, and these are her distant cousins. i suggest a cute and furry christmas gift this year...to yourself, these dogs are sweet and you can get in touch with our rescue service through www.potcakeplace.com.

you're kiddin' me right?
wtf? rolling stone!! after you wrote my favourite hunter s thompson remembrance issue??? how could you??? hank williams sr. is 28?? nina simone 29?? PATSY CLINE 47? John Foggerty 73?? what kind of poll are you maning?? who are you asking? Why is Bjork on this list? Bono?? get this dude off the same page as roy orbison is all i have to say. this so called poll is going to start a lot of musical beef let me tell you. are you even prepared for such a thing?
ps - my mistake, robert plant is sitting at a pretty 16, neil young, 38, kind of bogus - I will be the judge when i go to his concert on the 5th!
really rolling stone?
what's going on rolling stone? on your "best voices of rock" poll, coming out friday, you have lennon as #4, which is totally respectable, and mcartney as #11, which is kind of weird, but i can deal. now, we do have yet another problem, aretha is #1 and otis is a little behind her, weird. but my problem is robert plant didn't even make the list???? i don't even want to know where you put neil young. super bogus. kudos on dylan though.

balcony fever
i am feeling super lazy and romantic today. i have this idea, that just came to me, could be a gnarly photo creation...i am going to start taking pics from people's balconies. anytime i visit any of your homes it's going to be with my pentax and i will be more or less looking for a cute view rather than social pleasantries. i love balconies, there is something so romantic/ dreamy about 'em, i think it started when i was in venice beach couple years ago. i love the fresh air (ps-smoking stops for real this week), the metropolis views, the thinking i do. balconies warm my heart. truly.

c'est l'halloween! i am thinking about being edie this year, which shows i am being pretty lazy in the creativity department lately, as most of her outfits in any given pic kind of look like something i would wear on a saturday night, but i might need to play up my eyebrows for once, which should be a treat.. maybe fill in my missing patch (thanks marco radin, it was grade one and the scar remains. bogus).
Nothing too intense to report, just livin' and a lovin' and soaking up all the magical things that come along with it.
ps - below is a sample of m ward's work, a song that i can't stop repeating. thanks jordache, this song makes me feel ill with comfort and cute. and i don't even like birds.
I'm not the tiger, he never had,
I'm not the first hit when you got it bad.
I'm not your second, I’m not your third,
I'll be your bird.
I'm not your Chesnutt,
I'm not your Mould,
I'm not your DJ on late night radio,
I'll be the first one to ask where you were,
I'll be your bird.
Then when there's no one to care
I could protect like I’ve always been there,
I'll become your bear.
I'll sing statistics, & hide the truth,
I'll tell your dad anything you want me to,
I'll hide your locket under the dirt,
I'll be your bird

sitting in the hotel waiting for the action to begin...and by action i mean a solid night of work ahead of me. philly is special, but in a gritty kind of hungry american way, which is not so bad. the one thing that makes me smile when i come here is how everyone seems pretty stoked on football, downstairs at the sheraton hotel bar they are enjoying thursday night with cheesesteak, football, and michelob ultra. impressive.
something about philly really makes me want to make out under bleachers, do we do that enough in toronto?

monday night gp.
i am already rolling ideas off the top of my head for tonight, and 2 days in paris might just be the answer. tea, adam goldberg, and me. if you have yet to see this ostentatious indie flick, you are in for a treat, it's a kind of a hidden gem that gives you all you need to make sense of the ex, we all got 'em, but what we ever realize is how ridiculous and completely over the top cynical it is to care about someone else's . this film is gorgeous. please see it, and hopefully with someone adorable.

big ol' nothing.
hypothetically speaking, what would be your take if someone left you a mix cd on your windshield, and on this mix cd sat the ballad of big nothing. diss? or no diss?
"Ballad Of Big Nothing"
Throwing candy out to the crowd, dragging down the main
The helpless little thing with the dirty mouth who's always got something to say
You're sitting around at home now waiting for your brother to call
I saw him down in the alley, having had enough of it all
Said you can do what you want to whenever you want to
You can do what you want to, there's no one to stop you
All spit and spite, you're up all night and down every day
A tired man with only hours to go just waiting to be taken away
Getting into the back of a car for candy from some stranger
Watching the parade with pinpoint eyes full of smoldering anger
You can do what you want to whenever you want to
You can do what you want to, there's no one to stop you
Now you can do what you want to whenever you want to
Do what you want to whenever you want to
Do what you want to whenever you want to though it doesn't mean a thing
Big nothing

short boy hair.
apparently short boy hair makes everything look a little dressier. i have worn leggings, paired with a deep v to work everyday this week and nobody seems to give a mind. except for the dude that called me larry and has on occasion told me i have a wedgie.
Gettin' Organized.
Alright, here is to the most boring entry on anyone's blog anywhere, including alaska, and even nebraska.
i need to start organizing my life so that i can be more productive, drinking fine wine on the hammock in the sun room is not scoring me points anywhere...anywhere.
-do the work you have needed to do for 2+ weeks. it's boring, but suck it up, and you can probably even do this in the sun room with a very small glass of wine.
-go to philly, be organized about it. be prepared. be impressive almost.
-eat a delicious sandwich from wawa,
-get to fonzy's, you're going to be late, but that dude is rad, and it's his birthday.
-send robinacraftmoney pics, also comment on her latest posting about "rules for boys", please read it, www.robinacraftmoney.blogspot.com.
-get your mega crush to crush on you (this is not so much about organization, just general wants)
-hit steve. twice. for the 2 ridiculous late night lie texts. then have a glass of wine with him and his adorable girlfriend.
-take lay to high park for a fun afternoon together. but end up staring at each other while lying on the grass.
-update fall clothes. with dames.
-find dames.
-call your mom, she is sweet lady.
-call your dad and apologize for missing his past three calls. he hurts your heart with cute.
-make chili and watch dallas game with biz. 4:15 sunday.
-make sure you have all of your real life adult work done before you do anything fun like eat chili and watch football.
-watch the go getter (sorry jordache, it hasn't happened yet, but when it does....)
-do laundry. arghhhhhhhhhhhh.
-text drew.
-write thank you notes/love letters to friends that need some mail that is not bill related. get into it, it feels so good to get one back.
b-o-r-i-n-g. told you, but i feel better just knowing that i have actively thought about these things.
